Dr. Deacon Staggs, MD, ABPMR, CLCP, is a board-certified specialist in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) with more than two decades of experience in clinical practice, education, and life care planning. A graduate of Baylor College of Medicine, he completed his residency at Baylor University Medical Center and holds certifications from the American Board of PM&R and the International Commission on Health Care Certification as a Certified Life Care Planner. Dr. Staggs has served in various clinical and academic roles, including as an attending physician at Central Texas Rehabilitation Hospital and Baylor University Medical Center. He is a sought-after educator, having lectured extensively on topics such as spasticity management, cancer rehabilitation, and pain management, while also developing curricula for residency programs and mentoring the next generation of PM&R specialists.
Beyond his clinical and teaching contributions, Dr. Staggs has been deeply involved in community service and research. He has volunteered as a physician at the Hope Clinic in Waxahachie, Texas, earning the Volunteers in Medicine Award for his dedication to underserved populations. His research interests include quality of life in adult medulloblastoma patients and innovative pain management strategies for those with substance abuse disorders.
