Philip Ashley, Senior Medical Illustrator at IMS Legal Strategies, helps law firms tell clients’ stories clearly and effectively through medical demonstratives. Phil has been a Certified Medical Illustrator (CMI) since 1993. He assists attorneys by reviewing expert reports, medical records, and the imaging studies associated with their cases to create medical, anatomical, and surgical demonstratives which accurately portray their clients’ injuries or procedures. These demonstratives can be hand-drawn illustrations, computer-rendered models, or animations and are used to aid in a jurors understand of the wounds, medicine, and procedures involved.
Phil enjoys working collaboratively and creatively to serve and help our clients win. Prior to joining the IMS team, Phil was a Certified Medical Illustrator and Senior Trial Consultant with Precise, Inc., a Pennsylvania-based litigation support firm. Phil also had his own medical illustration studio for 15 years, serving the publishing industry with illustrations for medical, anatomical, nursing and veterinary textbooks, and numerous surgical atlases.
In his spare time, Phil can often be found taking continuing education classes through the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators or Association of Medical Illustrators, taking trips with his family and friends, playing ice hockey, camping, or playing one of his guitars. A native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he passionately supports all local arts organizations and sports teams, and now lives in the Philadelphia suburbs by Valley Forge.
