Jay Kania

Senior Director of Information Technology

Information technology systems are the bedrock of all IMS expert witness and integrated trial strategy services. These systems ensure secure communications between team members and clients, improve research and data collection capabilities, and open the doors to new business opportunities. Jay Kania, Senior Director of Information Technology, leads the Systems & Infrastructure, Software Development, and Data & Analytics teams that enable IMS operations to run not just smoothly but at maximum speed and potential.

Jay has worked in the IT industry for over 20 years and has extensive experience in programming, network infrastructure design, and video editing and production. An early adopter of cloud technology and platforms, he was an integral component of the team that moved the IMS technological infrastructure to a fully cloud-based environment. Jay is more than a “tech guy,” he is a motivating force for all members of the diverse technology teams he leads. In keeping with the IMS Core Values, Jay “leads by influence, not authority” and “operates as a servant leader.”

Prior to joining IMS, Jay was a technical account leader for Studer Group, an organization that helps healthcare organizations improve clinical outcomes and organizational leadership. During his eight years with that organization, he held various other titles, including network/systems administrator and multimedia studio manager.

Jay served as non-commissioned officer in charge in the US Army. He was discharged honorably upon completion of his mission in Iraq in 2006. He received a degree in health physics and preventative medicine from the US Army Academy of Health Sciences, a rigorous program in which he studied the effects of radioactive isotopes and field tactics to minimize casualties from nuclear fallout.

Out of the office, Jay is an avid fisherman. He is the past president of Gulf Coast Kayak Fishing Association, a nonprofit organization that conducts trainings and group outings and also hosts the Spring Kayak Fishing Tournament. Jay enjoys volunteering and has served as a technology mentor at the Boys and Girls Club in Pensacola, Florida.
