Laura Clementi, Global Solutions Advisor

Q: How did you get into this industry?

A: I was originally working as an ad rep for a newspaper. A recruiter, posing as a new client, called to speak with a rep and was routed to me. She briefly explained the trial services company she represented and invited me to apply for a sales position for their new Los Angeles office. The more I learned about trial consulting, the more fascinating I found it.

Q: How did you find and why did you choose IMS?

A: IMS first caught my eye several years ago when it expanded from expert witness sourcing into consulting services and began to acquire some of the top firms and consultants in the industry. I also saw that several former colleagues, whom I have known and trusted for many years, had joined IMS. I knew this was where I wanted to be and was fortunate enough to join the team last January.

Q: What do you like most about your specific department and/or role?

A: I love the relationships that I have developed, both with clients and coworkers. I also appreciate seeing how we can make a difference in the outcome of a case and contribute to a client’s success.

Q: What internal accomplishment are you most proud of?

A: My last firm was much smaller with not nearly as many resources, so I was required to wear many hats. I am proud of the diverse skillset I developed and was able to bring to IMS, from client and project management to budgeting and logistics to marketing and event planning.

Q: Are there any stories/memories you would like to share?

A: My position at IMS has afforded me the opportunity to engage in various legal conferences. In the last year, I have had the pleasure of meeting so many brilliant and accomplished attorneys across the country. I have learned from several compelling presentations, including an inspiring Q&A with Stacey Abrams at a conference this past summer—not to mention getting to see so many great cities.

Q: What do you think sets IMS apart from competitors or other companies?

A: It is most definitely the people. Not only do we have incredibly smart team members, but they are also collaborative and supportive.

Q: How do the IMS core values align with your own?

A: I was raised in a household with hard-working parents, who came to the United States with nothing. They raised us to “do the right thing.” I see each of our company core values as falling under that umbrella, so they are rules I have lived by my whole life.

Q: If you were an attorney-client (or an expert witness), what would you find most valuable about the process at IMS?

A: The wealth of knowledge and expertise under the same roof—it is unparalleled.

Q: Do you have any predictions or comments on industry trends?

A: When the courts reopened after the COVID-19 lockdowns, everyone was incredibly busy with the trials that had been put on hold for months or even years. The expectation was that things would eventually level off, but the demand is still very high--and often comes at the eleventh hour. I encourage clients to line up their consulting team early to not only ensure their availability but also to make the most of their input and recommendations.

Q: How did you find and why did you choose IMS?

A: I started my college career with an interest in the legal industry. I was drawn to how the legal system works and the intellectual challenges it presents, but I was undecided if I wanted to pursue the route of becoming an investigator or going to law school.

I came across IMS through a temp agency during my senior year of college. My mentor suggested that I get hands-on experience with different companies and entities within the legal field to help me figure out the direction I wanted to take. IMS was the first company that placed me as a temp, and it turned out to be my last. After just the first week, I knew this was where I belonged. Learning about the company’s culture and unique nature of the work, I was determined to get hired on permanently.

Q: What do you like most about your specific department and/or role?

A: I enjoy connecting and building relationships with people, both inside and outside of the company. Problem-solving is a key part of my role, and it is something I truly enjoy. Working with attorneys from around the world on complex cases gives me the chance to expand my knowledge, face new challenges, and think creatively.

Q: What internal accomplishment are you most proud of?

A: It is incredibly rewarding to see the company evolve and grow from a small team into what it is today. Being a part of this growth is something to be really proud of!

Q: What do you think sets IMS apart from competitors or other companies?

A: What sets us apart is the fact that our team can provide assistance from the beginning to the end of a case. Whether attorneys need “hard-to-find” expert witnesses, jury consultants, trial strategists, graphic designers, or trial techs, IMS consistently delivers top-tier service throughout the lifespan of a case.

Q: How do the IMS core values align with your own?

A: “Operate as One" reflects my belief in the power of teamwork. I thrive when collaborating with others, whether it is within my own team or with clients. Working together allows us to pool our strengths, share diverse perspectives, and approach challenges from multiple angles. I find that the best solutions often come from this kind of collective effort, where everyone’s contributions are valued, and the end result is stronger because of it.

Q: If you were an attorney-client (or an expert witness), what would you find most valuable about the process at IMS?

A: Customization. Across all service lines, we provide fully tailored solutions to ensure the best fit for your case. Additionally, our service goes beyond just delivering information—we are committed to supporting clients at every stage, ensuring all case needs are met.

Q: Do you have any predictions or comments on industry trends?

A: I foresee an increase in AI litigation and/or regulating the use of AI. I know our jury consultants have already been exploring this topic and what it means for corporate defendants.

Q: What has been your favorite case to work on so far?

A: I have a few. They all have some sort of mix between public interest, media coverage, and added legal complexities, making them very intriguing and fun to work on.
