At IMS, we believe our people are our greatest asset. In honor of our incredible team, we are thrilled to go "beyond the bio" and share the personal stories of employees across our organization.

This month, we are featuring Susan deHoll, IMS Senior Account Executive, and Joshua Hill, IMS Key Account Manager, who both exemplify our company’s values and problem-solving philosophy.

Susan has helped grow our medical expert witness services division across the Southeast since 2021. Drawing on a clinical background and a client-first approach, she connects local legal teams with the medical experts and case support they need for traumatic injury, healthcare, product liability, and similar matters.

Joshua has a unique perspective on client needs, having joined IMS in 2018 and grown from research and support roles to account management. He builds lasting relationships with law firms and corporations nationwide to help them secure specialized expertise, solve complex litigation challenges, and position cases for success at every step.

Susan deHoll, Senior Account Executive, Medical Expert Witness Services

Q: How did you get into this industry and find IMS?

A: I took a break from my career to raise three wonderful children. When my youngest left for college in 2020, I knew I was ready for a new professional chapter. My husband and I reached out to Gilbert Meadows, MD, the owner of Juris Medicus, a Texas-only company at the time, to explore expanding into South Carolina.

That conversation led to my becoming the account executive for South Carolina, and I handled my first case in February 2021 with my husband serving as the expert. That was my entry point into the industry and the beginning of my journey with what is now IMS.

Q: What do you like most about your specific department and/or role?

A: I love that my role lets me collaborate closely with clients on all their litigation needs and support them through tough situations. Being able to help make the process smoother and give them the best possible outcome is incredibly rewarding. I also enjoy meeting and engaging with new people every week, and I appreciate that no two days are ever the same. There is always something new to learn and tackle. I am so fortunate to work alongside people at IMS who share the same core values and a desire to provide our clients with collaborative solutions.

Q: What special strengths and unique skills do you offer clients and colleagues?

A: I bring my best to my clients and colleagues every day. I focus on building strong, trusting relationships and being highly responsive to clients' needs so they always feel supported. I have great working relationships with colleagues and really enjoy collaborating to develop new and better services for our clients. I also try to make the work environment fun and engaging, so that working together stays positive, productive, and energizing.

Q: Would you like to share any stories, memories, or accomplishments?

A: IMS has given me the opportunity to show my grown, successful children that I am more than "just" a mother, although that has been and continues to be one of the most rewarding roles in my life. However, I always wanted to return to work and do something for myself. My background is in health science and physical therapy, but I did not know how that would fit into my next chapter.

At IMS, I have built our book of business from the ground up in South Carolina, North Carolina, and parts of Georgia, and I have also supported work in Virginia. Being part of that growth has been incredibly meaningful. If you had told me five years ago that this role would take me where I am today, I never would have believed it.

Q: What do you think sets IMS apart from competitors or other companies?

A: First and foremost, it is the people. IMS truly lives by its core values, which CEO James Crane has set as the standard for how we work together and how we serve our clients. Without great people, you cannot have great success, and the talent at IMS is unmatched. When you bring these individuals together on a project, there's really no competitor that can match what we deliver.

The same is true of our medical experts. We are very particular about who we add to our panel, and our medical expert recruitment team is committed to finding the best of the best. That level of care and selectivity helps ensure our clients have the strongest possible support throughout the litigation process.

Q: Do you have any predictions or comments on industry trends?

A: I am very interested to see how much AI will reshape the entire litigation landscape. We are already seeing tools that can help with document review, research, and summarizing complex medical records, and that shift is only going to accelerate.

I think the real trend will be firms and providers like IMS learning to combine AI with human expertise by using technology to handle high-volume, repetitive tasks, so that attorneys and experts can focus on strategy, judgment, and persuasion. The organizations that strike the right balance will have a real advantage in efficiency, insight, and client results.

Joshua Hill, Key Account Manager

Q: How did you get into this industry and find IMS?

A: I was working as the assistant to the Vice President of Operations and General Counsel at a local research facility when she referred me to an opportunity at IMS. It turned out to be a great fit, and I have enjoyed building a career in litigation support ever since.

Q: What do you like most about your specific department and/or role?

A: The most rewarding part of my role is helping clients solve complex, high-stakes problems. When a client trusts you with an important challenge, and you deliver a solution that helps them succeed, it is incredibly fulfilling.

Q: What special strengths and unique skills do you offer clients and colleagues?

A: I pride myself on being highly organized and detail-oriented. In litigation, small details can have a significant impact on the overall outcome, and I enjoy making sure nothing gets overlooked.

Q: Would you like to share any stories, memories, or accomplishments?

A: One of my favorite matters involved working on a case between two Dallas professional sports teams. It was a unique opportunity to support a high-profile dispute involving two major professional sports organizations.

Q: What do you think sets IMS apart from competitors or other companies?

A: IMS stands apart because we offer a truly comprehensive suite of litigation support services backed by exceptional people. We bring together experienced consulting professionals and industry-leading expert witnesses, allowing us to provide clients with strategic support at every stage of litigation.

Q: Do you have any predictions or comments on industry trends?

A: I believe AI litigation will continue to evolve into its own distinct practice area. Rather than creating entirely new legal frameworks, courts are largely applying existing legal doctrines to emerging AI issues. That presents a significant opportunity for experienced litigators to help shape the future of AI law through the cases they bring and the arguments they make.
