Plaintiffs sought over $100 million in damages stemming from historic operations at the East White Lake field, an oil and gas production facility operated by Unocal from 1940 to 1995. One of the many Louisiana “legacy lawsuits” brought by landowners against oil and gas producers in the state, experts on both sides debated Unocal’s operational practices and extent of contamination on the property, which is home to a thriving ecological wetland as well as current ongoing oil and gas production.
Our Role
IMS Legal Strategies worked with trial attorneys from King and Spalding and Kean Miller, and directly with various scientific experts to develop, refine and focus the defense team’s arguments and presentations at trial. IMS's consultants worked alongside the client from the very early stages of the case all the way through closing argument to “clarify, create, and convince”. We believe the result speaks for itself.
Case Results
After a three-week trial, the jury deliberated less than four hours before delivering a sweeping defense verdict.
